1-2/3 sensor vs 1 inch sensor. Size difference

What is the actual area difference between the 2 sensors. Is the 1 inch 2,3 or 4 times the size of the 1-2/3 sensor. Thanks

The 1" sensor has slightly over 4 times the area as a 1/2.3" sensor. For comparison, the FF sensor has 30x the area.

Thanks for your reply. I used this same chart and if you look at the size difference the 1" sensor does not look 4 times larger.

It's 4 times the area. Sometimes saying something is 4x bigger than something else can sound deceiving. Maybe you were expecting it to be 4x the length and width.

..maybe this chart will be better..
..but to me, if take the area of the 1/2.3 and apply it 4X, then it seems to fill the sensor area of the 1"..
