Fast-growing physical therapy provider ACCESS PT today formally unveiled its fifth state-of-the-art location serving greater Danbury, Connecticut, and announced it will host a public open house of the clinic Thursday, Sept. 15.

ACCESS PT said the new facility—which employs innovative treatment protocols and modalities, advanced support technologies, and highly skilled staff—will give patients on Danbury’s westside a more convenient option for obtaining the physical therapy services they need in order to “move better, feel better, and live better.”
Located at 40 Old Ridgebury Rd., Suite 102, the new ACCESS PT clinic began seeing physical therapy patients on May 31 and will be fully inaugurated with the Sept. 15 open house.

The open house is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. and will feature light refreshments, a raffle, plus an opportunity to meet the ACCESS PT Danbury Old Ridgebury team. At 5 p.m., company leaders will make the clinic’s debut official by cutting a ceremonial ribbon under the watchful eyes of Danbury Mayor Dean Esposito.
The ACCESS PT Danbury Old Ridgebury physical therapy clinic is the company’s second such facility in Danbury proper (the region’s other ACCESS PT clinics are located in Brookfield, New Fairfield, and Newtown). In total, ACCESS PT operates more than 50 physical therapy clinics throughout the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions.
“Physical therapy patients at our newest clinic receive the same excellent quality of care and exceptional outcomes that have made all other ACCESS PT centers a provider of first-choice in their own respective communities,” said Danbury Old Ridgebury Clinic Director Michael Clune, PT.
According to Clune, services available at Danbury Old Ridgebury include physical and manual therapy, strength conditioning, post-surgical care, sports medicine, work-related injury rehabilitation, blood-flow restriction therapy, soft-tissue mobilization, dry needling, cupping, and more.
ACCESS PT is known for eliminating barriers to care, Clune indicated—for example, the company offers evening appointments and directly accepts some patients without a referral from a primary care physician. “As our name implies, our goal is to improve patient access to physical therapy services,” said Clune, a hands-on practitioner who strives to help patients make their fastest and fullest possible therapeutic gains.
“I treat injured workers, geriatric patients, and those recovering from total joint-replacement procedures,” he said. “I love hearing them tell me about the progress they’re making from visit to visit, and about the improvements they’re experiencing in the quality of their lives each and every time they walk in through the doors here at Danbury Old Ridgebury.”
Clune—a physical therapist with more than 25 years of experience—said he credits ACCESS PT patients’ good outcomes in part to the eagerness of the clinical team to be engaged, active listeners. “If patients tell us they’re feeling pain in the knee, we also want to hear about what they’re feeling above and below the area of discomfort,” he said. “We want to hear about what’s happening in their entire body. And we also want to hear about how pain and other problems are affecting their daily living. The inputs we receive from those conversations allow us to help them develop realistic goals for getting back to where they were pre-injury or pre-surgery.”
The holder of a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from Daemen College in Amherst, New York, Clune is a longtime member of the Danbury community. He coaches a local soccer team, plays golf, and enjoys hiking. Even with four children ranging in age from 20 to 6, Clune manages to find time to indulge his passion for gardening and to maintain an impressively manicured lawn.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to provide physical therapy care at the ACCESS PT Danbury Old Ridgebury clinic,” Clune said. “It’s also a tremendous personal honor for me to be part of the ACCESS PT family—a company that does things right, a company that delivers satisfaction to patients and clinic employees alike.”
