Yes. The Academy Credit Card is a Store Card, which means the Academy Credit Card can only be used at Academy Stores and on Academy.com.

When applying for the Academy Credit Card in-store, you can complete the application during check out or through text-to-apply. To learn more about the two ways to apply in-store, please visit your nearest Academy.

Application Approved Instantly

  • If you apply during checkout and are instantly approved, your account details will be applied to the transaction automatically to complete your first purchase with the Academy Credit Card. You can continue to make purchases in-store prior to your physical card arriving with Account Look-Up. To learn more about Account Look-Up, click here.
  • If you apply through text-to-apply and are instantly approved, when you go to checkout let the Team Member know you applied and were approved. The team member will be able to do an Account Look-Up to complete your transaction with the Academy Credit Card. Application Pending

  • Whether or not you apply during checkout or through text to-apply, if your approval is pending you will not be able to complete a purchase in-store until approval. Application Approved Online

  • If you ARE signed into your account on Academy.com during the application and are instantly approved, your account details will be saved to your Academy.com account. You will be able to complete purchases online prior to receiving the physical card in 7-10 business days. To get your $15 off first purchase discount, you will need to complete the purchase the same day as application in the same session as approval.   • If you are NOT signed into your Academy.com account during the application and are instantly approved, your account information will be available while your session is valid, which will allow you to get $15 off your first Academy Credit Card purchase. Once the session expires, you will not be able to access your account details to complete additional purchases online until your physical card arrives in 7-10 business days.

Application Pending Online

  • Whether or not you are signed into your account on Academy.com during the application, if your approval is pending you will not be able to complete a purchase online until your physical card arrives (7-10 business days after approval). Account Look-Up is an option in-store that allows a team member to pull up your Academy Credit Card account. In order to complete Account Look-Up in-store, you must provide a valid State Driver’s License, Military ID, State ID or passport.

Account Look-Up allows you to:

  • Complete purchases in-store with your Academy Credit Card (without using your physical card)
  • Check available balances on your Academy Credit Card
  • Make payments in-store on your Academy Credit Card

To receive $15 off your first purchase today, the first purchase must:

  • Occur the same day as application and approval
  • Be on your Academy Credit Card, you CANNOT split the payment with another form of payment (i.e. gift card)
  • Be greater than $15 ($15.01 or more)
    • If the first purchase is greater than $15, the $15 off discount will automatically apply at checkout.

To make purchases in-store and online, the primary account holder on the account must activate the new Academy Credit Card. The primary account holder can activate the card:

If you are the primary account holder, you can authorize someone to make purchases using your Academy Credit Card account. Any person you authorize to make purchases using your account is considered an authorized buyer on your account. You can add up to 4 authorized buyers to your account.

  • Authorized buyers will receive an Academy Credit Card with the authorized buyers name on the card.

Online: Pay your bill online at d.comenty.net/academy no later than 5:00 PM EST on the payment due date.

In-Store: Pay your bill with cash, debit card or check in an Academy Store at Customer Service no later than 5:00 PM EST on the payment due date.

If you do not pay your Academy Credit Card balance in full, the unpaid portion of your balance is carried over to the next billing cycle. That unpaid portion accrues interest based on the programs current APR.


  • The Academy Credit Card has a variable APR that is determined by the U.S. Prime Rate in the Money Rates section of the Wall Street Journal on the last business day of the calendar month.
  • Your current APR will always be reflected on your latest billing statement, which you can access in your Comenity Account at comenity.net/academy.
