Here is the list of Dinner Recipes that go with the Food Storage Challenge. Make sure you try them out (you can substitute the Freeze Dried beef, milk, and eggs for regular) so you are familiar with how to make them and know if your kids will eat them.


DinnerRecipes:

BBQChicken and Biscuits- Serves4
***Stove/oven time 1hr***

Chicken
2 c FreezeDried Chicken
+ 4 c boiling water tore-hydratechicken
2 c BBQsauce

Mix chicken in boiling water,cover and let sit 5-7min; drain off extra water. Shred chicken andstir in BBQ sauce.
Biscuits
2 c whiteflour
2 tsp baking powder
4 Tbsp shortening
½ tsp salt
¾c milk = ¼ c powdered milk
+ 1 c water

Heat oven to 425 degrees. Combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add water graduallyuntil dough is soft. Kneed for about 30sec. Shape and bake12-15min. Makes 8 small biscuits.


ChickenStuffing Casserole- serves 4, makes 8×8 pan

***Oven time1 ½ hr***

1pkg Stove top Dressing Mix
1 can Cream ofchicken Soup
1 ½ c water
2 c Freeze Dried Chicken
+ 4 cwater to rehydrate chicken

Boil 4 c water, mix chicken andwater, let sit 5-7min; drain off extra water. Boil 1 c water, adddressing mix. Pack ½ dressing mix into 8×8 pan. Mix soup, ½ cwater put on top of dressing, and then add chicken. Put rest ofdressing mix on top. Bake 45min at 350 degrees in oven.


CornBread and Beans- serves 4

***Oven time 40min…Stove time20min***

1 can Bush baked beans

Corn Bread-makes 1 pie pan or 8×8 pan
¾ c cornmeal (grind ½ c popcornkernels)
1 ¼ c wheat flour (grind between ¾ c and 1 c)
¼ csugar
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1 c water
1/3 cpowdered milk
1 egg = 2 ½ Tbsp “whole egg” powder
+ 2 ½Tbsp water for egg

Warm up beans.
Mix dry ingredients inbowl. Add water and stir well. Pour into pan. Cook at 400 degreesfor 20min.

Topping
1Tbsp butter per person = 4 Tbsp butter powder
+ 4Tbsp water forbutter


FlankSteak Fajitas- serves 4

****Stove time 30min***

2c Freeze Dried Beef
+ 4 c water to rehydrate beef
1 c FreezeDried Bell Peppers
+ 3 c water to rehydrate bell peppers
2 tspsteak seasoning
¼ c dehydrated onions

Boil4 c water, add beef, cover and let stand 5-7min; drain off extrawater. Place Bell peppers in 3 c water and let sit 15-20min untilfully re-hydrated. In sauce pan cook beef, peppers, seasoning, andonions until warm. Serve over tortillas.

Tortillas
1½ c white flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
3 Tbspshortening
¾ c warm water

Mixdry ingredients and cut in shortening. Add warm water (NOT hot) alittle at a time until dough is soft and not sticky. Knead dough fora few minutes. Pull dough into balls (about 6) and let rest for10min. Set pan on med/high heat. Roll out dough and cook for a fewseconds on each side until you see light brown spots.


FriedBurritos- Serves 4

***Stovetime 30min***
Beans
2c dried re-fried beans
2 c water

Add beansto boiling water, stir briefly and cover. Let sit 10min
Cheese
4servings of cheese blend
1 c water

Combinecheese blend with hot water and stir until smooth
Tortillas
1½ c white flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
3 Tbspshortening
¾ c warm water

Mix dryingredients and cut in shortening. Add warm water (NOT hot) a littleat a time until dough is soft and not sticky. Knead dough for a fewminutes. Pull dough into balls (about 6) and let rest for 10min. Set pan on med/high heat. Roll out dough and cook for a few secondson each side until you see light brown spots.


Spaghettiwith Noodles- Serves 4

****Stovetime 30min***
3 cnoodles
1 jar Spaghetti sauce
4 c water

Boil water,add noodles. When noodles cooked, drain and mix in sauce until warm.

SwissSteak and Mashed Potatoes-Serves 4

***Stove time 45min***
2 c FreezeDried Beef
+ 4 c water to re hydrate beef
1 pkg onion soupmix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
¼ c water
2 tsp salt addedto boiling water

Boil 4cwater, add beef, let soak for 5-7min. Drain off extra water. Mixrest of ingredients with beef.

Potatoes-makes about 4, ½ c servings
2 c boiling water
1 ½ c potatoflakes
Mix potato flakes with boiling water. Serve with Beefmixture


*Again...Ido recommend you attempting to cook some of these meals to make sureyour family enjoys them. If you end up adding extra seasonings, justbuy an extra bottle when shopping to add to your food storage supply.
